The library

We went to the library on Monday. We needed to renew our cards (mainly for discounted swimming) where I found out that I had some fines on my card. These were knitting books from before Della was born. It turned out my fines were, as the lady put it, 'substantial and are running into three figures'!! After a word with her manager she let me off - I did return the books but that was while I was in a baby whirlwind - thankfully they understood and very kindly let me off!

Although there were many many new books for Della to read she happily found 'Six dinner Sid: a highland adventure' and settled down reciting all the words from her well loved gift from Gina and Martin ...

A slow Saturday

We had a very cosy weekend - see previous post about sunday party fun. On saturday night Della worked hard with Simon to make bread. she likes to watch her hands disappear into the dough.

Here is a little clip of the live action:

Then on Sunday morning we all enjoyed fried eggs on the bread made with Daddy - yes you are right that is 8 eggs between us!!

Given how runny the eggs were a good old hand washing was required to clean yolky hands and cheeks!

Then with all the exciting action we all just need a nice sit down, cuddle and the read of a good book!

Jigsaw

When Della is not reading she is doing jigsaws. She has gotton very good at doing these by herself recently. Here she is doing  train puzzle...

Bouncy birthday party

We went to Becky and Isaac's (they are twins) third birthday party on Sunday. It was really quite exciting because there was a bouncy castle. Even though della didn't really know anyone she was very happy to get up and make use of the activities!

Then it was time for dinner...

After some food, more bouncing, playing with a paper plate pretending it was a frisbee outside and some crafts and sticking it was time to have a sit down and study her handy work...

The Stray

After the marathon we headed over to the stray to hunt for conkers. Della loves conkers.

On the Stray there was a very large fallen-down tree. On this Della practiced her gym club balancing skills.

Hands out to balance Della!
Granda helped her open a new conker out of it's case. Della believes the first thing you should do when you find a conker is put it in your pocket!

The following day she sang a song about conkers and putting them in your pocket - while rolling playdoh - note the action of putting them in your pocket!

The first Yorkshire marathon

On Sunday it was the first ever Yorkshire marathon. As it passed just 5 minutes from our house we decided to go along and clap for the sweaty people. It was fun. Della mainly liked to look at the people who were dressed up. People who were dressed as Elvis, elephants and men in skirts got the most claps from her.

Pat and Mat

When we were in Aberdeen granda Andrew and Maria very kindly gave us a couple of DVD's of two characters called Pat and Mat. They are Slovakian but luckily there is no talking in the animation so we can all share the joke. Della has really taken to Pat and May recently - she thinks they are silly and that they should only wear their hats when it is windy.

Here are two clips of her watching them this morning:

Busy day

Today della said goodbye to her favourite carer at nursery, it was a little bit sad but della gave her a dug up strawberry plant from the garden, she liked it.

Then it was off to gym club to bounce, we saw a little girl break her arm, or possibly dislocate it - her elbow was facing the wrong anyway and it was a firm reminder to not push your child into something they don't want to do! Instead we rolled on some big balls and played on the trampoline...

Then it was time for a proper hair cut - not one from mammy with blunt kitchen scissors. Della was very excited about sitting in the big chair...
