Daddy's birthday

Simons birthday was on Monday. We had a fun time with granhelen and uncle nick here at the weekend too.

We played pass the parcel which was fun

Had some very special candles courtesy of gran Helen

Opened presents in bed

Then later went to Frankie and Bennys for tea - Dellas favourite place to eat out!

Gus also had his first haircut. More on that later

Happy birthday Simon!

Visit from Gran Helen and Uncle nick

We had a visit from Gran Helen last weekend. This included some crafting,

A trip to the library

Uncle nick arriving, coincidentally on the same bus we caught home from the library. That's our new roof in the background, ready for santa's arrival by sleigh.

Putting up Christmas lights on the scaffolding.

And a trip to the park.

Festive

The past few weeks have been none stop with work, builders and mostly festive activities. I thought nursery was bad, but school really go for it. Della broke up for Christmas last Friday (she was delighted and really needs a rest!) but before that there was:

Nativity X 2
Christmas school party
School trip to pantomime
Advent fair at school
Carol and music service at church
School Christmas lunch

As I don't have time to write about all of these exciting events here are a few highlights. Videos to follow in another post.

Nativity
Della was one of the many angels. Although she is at a C of E school the nativity wasn't as focuses on the baby Jesus as I imagined it would be - although He still featured!

As you can tell by the photos Della was ill for both performance s

Carol service

The school is very musical. There were violins, guitars, oboes, cellos, ukuleles, piano, trumpet and trombone!

It was around bedtime so Gus was fairly wired but it was still lovely. Della is front left

A little while ago we went for a walk in the woods. During this walk Della pretended to be our teacher and made up songs for us to learn

Gus drinks soup

This is all...

Creepy crawlies

In a bid to get away from the building work me and Gus headed to creepy crawlies this week to meet a friend.  This is a large soft play area where Gus could run wild. He loved it!

This machine blows air in toddlers faces and they find it hilarious!

Gus is a bonkers little man and quite the daredevil... He is very excited here about going down the slide alone.

Then, he ran (well crawled very fast!) away. I found him here, trying to climb the very large slide.

Again, he legged it and he headed for the giant play zone. He climbed and climbed until he hit the top. Then poked his arm through the mesh and waved at everyone below. They obliged and waved back. He giggled!

Saturday

Today we have stayed home all day. This doesn't happen often now Della is at school so in a bid to share some quality time with Della we made a gingerbread house. She is surprisingly good... Although I'm taking credit for the house (not the biscuits though)

We also wondered about Christmas decorations but to be honest I'm dreading Gus getting his hands on the tree, so for now, we did Dellas room.

Gus had an extra nap - he is a bit grizzly at the minute

Then he checked the loft to see what damage the storm was causing to our exposed roof

Weeks

I'm not entirely sure where to start. It's been weeks since any posts. This is mainly because building work is taking its toll. As they knocked through at the top of the stairs we have become pretty restricted. No matter how after I Hoover there is always tiny bits of rubble about so Gus is stuck in the living room after already consuming quite a few bits of 1930s brick work.

For a change we played in Dellas room the other day. Gus likes Dellas jewellery box!

House work

A few pics of the state of the building work - luckily the weather has improved just as they've started putting the new roof on. Still hoping it will be finished for Christmas, or else Santa may not be able to find anywhere to park his sledge...
