A day at the farm

Spring is here which means lambs!

We went to 'lambing Sunday' at the local agricultural college this weekend. It was packed with activities, stalls and baby animals. Della mainly like watching the cows being milked and Gus mainly liked being carried in his back pack...

Sunday baking

After racking our brains about what to make for lunch on Sunday me and Della hit the kitchen to cook our own versions of pasty/calzone.

The pastry was a tad dense but they turned out lovely...

Before this there was some intensive hedge trimming and shoe cleaning going on with Daddy!

Chocolate lolly making

Today we popped into town for some last minute provisions for Zurich. While there we called at York Cocoa House for a rest and to make a chocolate lolly. Good value fun!

Park

It's officially park season again!

Yesterday Gus went on the swings for the first time...

He was joined by Cora his buddy...

GranHelen visits

As mentioned in the last post just as GranHelen came to visit Della got chicken pox. This meant that Della was either lying on the sofa, requiring mammy cuddles a lot or being more cheeky and demanding than normal. She was forced outside even if this was wrapped in a blanket!

However after a couple days Della did pick up and we got out of the house.

On Friday Gus, GranHelen and simon took a stroll into town...

Then on Saturday morning Della woke up perky so we jumped in the car and headed to Bedale which is a beautiful market town about 45 mins north of York and it was their first bootsale of the season. GranAnne and Granda met us there for a stroll and coffee.

On Sunday, after a slow morning we hit the allotment and park. Della took Rufus the rabbit and picked flowers

GranHelen got adventurous at the park

As did Della

Gus slept, and then had a quiet sit down and read with gran Helen

The pox

Last Wednesday Della was feeling poorly but we carried on as normal about to pack her off to preschool. I went to tie her hair up and noticed a blister on her neck. It was unmistakedly chicken pox.

At first she was fine but then (just before GranHelen arrived) she started to feel more and more poorly until she wouldn't really get off the sofa. Now 6 days in she seems nearly back to normal - minus the spots which are annoying her greatly and have resulted in her not using her left hand!!

However, the pox did not stop crafty time. We made flowers for GranAnne and GranHelen for Mother's Day.

And pictures out of glittery foam

I think the food Della enjoyed most during the pox was this ice lolly

Big boy

We have been to a couple of parties at Creepy Crawlies (a very large soft play area) recently. Gus mainly stays at home but as it was close friends of ours having the party on Sunday we all went. We decided to try Gus in a high chair for the first time. We've not tried it at home as he can't sit upright by himself yet. It turns out he loved it!

So we got ours down from the loft and today he joined me and Della for soup at the table - although he is a couple of weeks of chewing the bread with us yet!

These are few shots from the party! Going so fast you can't even see her!

With Abbie, her (current) best friend (apart from Owen)

Exciting party food!

Wedding shoes

The other day, out of the blue, Della asked to see my wedding shoes! She said she looks at them in a photo which is at my parents house. This is the photo - I'm surprised she looks at the shoes!

So I got them out for her. She got very excited and asked me to wear them.

Then she asked if she could wear them...

Luckily just half a walk to make them clip clop made her happy and didn't break her ankles!

Visitors - 2

On Tuesday Maria had to leave. We walked her to the train station via another tea room...

After a stroll round town and the library, we headed home and managed to talked to the Collinses of Zurich on Skype. Della and Bluet entertained each other by just showing their things to each other. Ilona impressed us with her walking and words. Having children means real life conversations that adults normally have become virtually impossible.

Then Uncle Nick popped round and both Della and Gus in their tired and excited states made us count down to bedtime with their general loud and rowdy behaviour!

Then on Wednesday it was time for Della to return to preschool. She needed it after a week off going alton towers and having visitors!
