Trip to Cambridge

This weekend daddy took della and Gus to Cambridge to visit gran Helen - Angela had to work on Saturday. 

As with most recent trips to Cambridge, both Gus and Della were both a bit Ill, which made it tough going sometimes... However, we managed some walks to the river to feed the ducks,

And also discover the alleyway round the back of gran Helens house, looking for treasure...

Della and Gus managed a bit of sharing.., 

Gus found a fun pastime in scraping moss off the ground and into flower pots! 

Both nights sleep was a bit limited by coughs and colds but they started out cosily

And in Sunday it was Father's Day which Angela had very thoughtfully planned ahead for

Then we took a trip to a country park not far away 

And looked in the pond, 

And ate giant ice creams 

And wandered around discovering things.

Della's first sports day

Today was Dellas first sports day at school. She was excited. Della isn't the most physically able child so I was worried she would be last in everything and would spend the night upset. This was not the case. This is what happened... 

1) Egg and spoon race (using wooden spoon and potatoes) - Della first!! 

2) bean bag race (on head) - Della third

3) sprint - Della second 

4) getting dressed race (running, stopping three times to dress in different clothes) - Della first!! 

5) space hopper race - Della fourth (last) 

The best thing about the whole event was that even the most competitive children were mainly happy to finish the race, putting as much effort in as possible until they crossed the line, when they got a sticker!

The next day it was sunny, so we went to the new water area at the park next to Ethan's house. It was great!

Out on the deck and exploring the river - Gus was not happy that he wasn't allowed down to play with the big kids

Then there were fewer

On Saturday night, it was the party. 

Then on Sunday and Monday people started to leave. We stayed longer visiting a castle, playing at being Royal and then heading into Bratislava ready for an early morning flight.
