Day eight

I'm Day eight: Hamsterly Forest

Hamsterly is the Durham version of Dalby, both run by the forestry commission. Every time we go to Hamsterly it seems to have changed, with more and more for children to do

Today we played, had a picnic and Gus fell in love with the Gruffalo, returning many times to hug him and say goodbye

Day five, six and seven...

We're quieter.

Wednesday was a day for Della with just mammy and daddy whole Gus was at nursery. The large event of the day was a trip to Frankie and Bennys and lots of Lego play.

Thursday was just a mammy and della day. The main event was cake making and a trip to the cinema to see (a surprisingly intense and scary) the secret life of pets

Friday we made hair braids, painted  nails, ate hotdogs then collected Gus and travelled to Durham...

Day four

Our kids don't know how lucky they are. Day four: the zoo

It started with eggs and bagel face!

The first thing we saw was 'look, a lion having a giant poo!'

Gus enjoyed a tiger playing with a ball in some water, I'm guessing he was petty envious!

I didn't get many animal shots, but my complete irrational fear of death by polar bear made me keep a very close eye on these fellas

There was then plenty of time for ice cream and the play park!

Day three

Of 47 days holiday: Newby Hall

We bought Historic Houses Membership. This means we can go to lots of houses and gardens for free. Newby Hall is one of out favourites. This time along with the normal fun things there was also a bear room, a dolls house exhibition and a Zimbabwe sculpture show.

We don't normally go on the little train but because it (felt like) it was a free day out we did! Gus did enjoy it although the photos make it look otherwise. Della loved the tunnel!

Simon and Della raced a long way to the house. Gus chased them all the way as quickly as he could, only becoming distracted a few times by flowers and a ladybird

Then insisting he stick his head through a small space he got upset, again. It has to be a phase?!
