Durham big meeting

Last weekend we went to Durham Mibers Gala. It was great fun. You may recall we went last year. Simon was unable to make it then but came this time. Here are a few highlights - will post so brass band music later.

Robin Hoods Bay

Our trip to the seaside was lovely. Della was desperate to get to the sea and use her net to catch things but when we arrived it was high tide (who thinks to check these things?!) 

So we went to the coast guards base. Here della enjoyed listening to stories from people on the telephone 

Then we went for food in a cafe with a balcony overlooking the sea 

Then eventually the tide went out and we walked to the beach... 

Visitors

We have grandad Andrew and Maria staying with us for a few days. Today we went to Robin hoods bay. More on that later. Yesterday they collected Della from preschool and we went to the park... 

It's all about the peas

Since being a child I have loved picking pea pods in the garden and sneakily eating all of them. Seems like it's rubbed off...

Gus is a grabber

Wherever we go Gus managed to get hold of something. He could not be more different than Della, who from a young age, loved a rule and listened intently and wanted to do everything just to please you. Not even at 9 month we can tell Gus will not be like this. 

For example he ate a considerable amount of this flower the other day without me even realising! 

But was fine so went on the swing with Della 

Dance street

Della no longer goes to her gymnastics class. She was getting a bit old for the informal jumping around and playing so could have moved I to the more serious beam and trampolining lessons but this seemed a tad too hardcore and she has asked to go to dance lessons for a long time now. So after considerable I managed to find a street dance class (or dance street as Della calls it) for her to go to. She loves it, she thinks she will be able to dance like they do in music videos. She is growing up way too fast. After the class 1 she is in though they do go on to learn breakdancing and the such - that would be very entertaining!! 

This is her 'uniform' (not the bandana - that's just for fun). She has her name on her shirt which she loves!

It's been hot - very hot. This has resulted in two children in the garden mainly getting wet and running around... 

In other news...

Since returning from holiday it's pretty much been business as usual. 

We've had a few trips out including piglets (a farm with play things) and Newby Hall with some friends...

While on holiday we discovered a couple of good playgrounds. A new adventure one and a pirate ship one - which was great as Della is a dedicated pirate fan (at the minute anyway!)
